Meet the Latest Ireland Native to Join WWE

WWE has recently added a new Ireland native to their ranks.

Dubliner Kevin Egan officially announced he will be joining World Wrestling Entertainment effective immediately.

He will be acting as backstage correspondent on Monday Night Raw. Along with hosting Raw Talk directly after the company’s flagship show on Monday nights and leading commentary on WWE Main Event.

Kevin Egan will work under the name Kevin Patrick with WWE.

With all these duties presented to him on arrival, it’s clear to see the professional wrestling giants see Kevin as a real asset to the organisation.

Dubliner joins WWE as new presenter

During his first WWE YouTube appearance, Kevin stated he was “beyond thrilled.”

Following up with, “I’ve always been blown away by the incredible charisma and athleticism of the WWE Superstars, and I’m excited at the opportunity to help tell their stories.”

WWE also released their own statement on the matter saying, “As a studio host, play-by-play commentator and reporter, Patrick has been fortunate to travel the world combining his love of sports, broadcasting and entertainment.”

Career

Egan began his broadcasting career during his first year in college.

Kevin worked with Ireland’s National Broadcaster, RTE. This was during the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He worked as a ‘runner’, it wasn’t all glitz and glam, but it was the start of a fruitful career.

After college, Kevin made a big move to America in 2009.

He picked up roles with Big Ten Network and their sister channel Fox Sport.

While Kevin is a die-hard Dublin GAA supporter, there isn’t much call for that sort of thing in the States.

So, he picked up work covering football or soccer as the Yanks wrongly call it.

In 2012, MLS team Chicago Fire hired him as a television commentator and analyst.

He would later pick up more commentary work with fellow MLS side Atlanta United.

Kevin continues to work in this role to this very day. Along with keeping his schedule busy with CNN and Sirius XM.

Stuck between his Major League Soccer endeavours, Kevin also worked with BeIN Sports as a presenter and commentator.

While Kevin Egan won’t be donning a singlet or baby oil, he will continue to proudly fly the tricolour in the WWE.
