The 2019/20 Premier League season certainly will be one we will never forget. The world shut down and it seemed like at one stage it wouldn’t return for an on-field finish. Thankfully, it did and this weekend we will see the climax of the season. Over two months later than expected.

Even away from Covid-19 some of the on-field stories have been fantastic. The unbelievable season by Sheffield United, Frank Lampard’s young Chelsea side proving their worth and of course Liverpool getting the monkey off their back and becoming champions for the first time in 30 years.

It still isn’t quite done. We do have one round of games left to go and still plenty to sort out. The small matters of European football and relegation are still to be decided.

So, let’s crack on and look at what we can look forward to on the final day of the Premier League season.

Newcastle United vs Liverpool

Venue – St. James Park

Odds – Home Win 6/1 Draw 4/1 Away Win 4/11

No better way to start than with the champions Liverpool. Fresh off finally getting their hands on the Premier League trophy they’ll be looking to finish off their title winning season with a bang.

They come up against a Newcastle team looking to spoil the feel-good vibe at Liverpool. Theycome into this one with nothing to play for which is reflected by their current form. They haven’t won in their last five games with some poor performances.

The Liverpool players will also be looking forward to the break now. With everything wrapped up they also have nothing to play for. They come in fresh off a possible Match of the Season candidate with Chelsea. However last time they celebrated their title victory they got battered by Manchester City. Could we see the same again? Especially if they are to play a weakened team.

Speaking of weakened teams Newcastle are plagued with injuries. They’ll be without defenders Jamaal Lascelles, Fabian Schar and Ciaran Clark. While Sean Longstaff, Isaac Hayden, Florian Lejeune and Emil Kraft are all doubtful.

While Liverpool will be without the injured Joel Matip and captain Jordan Henderson.

Newcastle are the team with the most home draws this season giving the circumstances we could see another.

Verdict – Tight Liverpool win.

Our silver medallists are up next facing a relegated Norwich side.

City have been on a tear in the league recently. Winning their last four games and scoring 16 goals in the process. City have scored four or more goals in their last eight league games. They are also three goals away from reaching 100 for the season. They have also won their last six home games in the league and have been leading at half time.

This all makes for some bad reading if you are a Norwich fan. The Canaries prepare for another season back in the Championship. They don’t have the best going away present to face on their way out. Norwich themselves have been awful of late. They haven’t picked up a single point since February. They have the worst goal scoring and conceding record in the league. This season they have only registered one away win. Will that change here? Not bloody likely.

City will be without main man Sergio Aguero and back up keeper Claudio Brave with injuries.

While Norwich are without Emiliano Buendia and Josip Drmic due to suspension. Along with Sam Byram, Grant Hanley and Moritz Leitner.

Verdict – Manchester City mauling.

Leicester City vs Manchester United

One of the games with the most on the line. Both teams are battling it out for a Champions League spot next season. A point only separates the two. Leicester need to win while United need to avoid defeat.

Winning isn’t something Leicester have done much of lately. They have only won twice since the return of football back in June. However, they have won their last two home games and kept a clean sheet. Something they will need to do here.

United come into this one in decent form. Their last two games have been spluttering performances but, in the league, they are still unbeaten since January. United have also won their last three away games and kept a clean sheet while doing so. They’ll need to continue this and keep the questionable back line in check to have any hope of European football next season.

Leicester are missing some key players like James Maddison, Ben Chilwell, Caglar Soyuncu, Ricardo Pereira and Christian Fuchs. While Marc Albrighton is 50/50 to play or not.

Manchester United are without Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe. While Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw are doubtful.

Verdict – Draw. Manchester United back in the Champions League.

West Ham United vs Aston Villa

Venue – London Stadium

Kick Off – 4.00 pm

Odds – Home Win 15/8 Draw 5/2 Away Win 5/4

Watch On – BT Sports

Another one with serious stakes on the line. This time at the other end of the table. The Hammers are safe with their draw with Manchester United last time out. While Villa desperately fight for survival.

West Ham can rest easy now as they remain a Premier League club for next season. They are in decent form in fairness. Coming into this one three games unbeaten. With striker Michail Antonio in inspired form scoring six goals in those three games.

While Aston Villa gave themselves a lifeline with a huge win over Arsenal last time out. Their faith is in their own hands as they are level with Watford for that final relegation place. They are also unbeaten in their last three games. However, they are winless in their last seven away games in the league.

Question marks are around about the fitness of Jarrod Bowen, Aaron Cresswell and Ryan Fredericks for West Ham,

Villa are without Tom Heaton, Wesley and Bjorn Engels. While Ahmed El Mohamady and Neil Taylor are carrying knocks but could still play.

Last time these two met this season it finished 0-0. It could be the same again this time around.

Verdict – Draw. Results elsewhere to save Villa.

Another game with serious European football positions on the line. Chelsea look to hold on to their top four position. While Wolves look to keep a grip on their Europa League qualification spot for next season.

Chelsea are in very good form picking up ten wins since beating Liverpool back in March and only losing three times since then. They have also won in their last six Premier League games at home. Conceding only a single goal in those games. They have some great talent in their team like Christian Pulisic continually impressing.

Wolves also come in to this one on a small three game unbeaten run. They need a win here to guarantee Europa League qualification for next season. Of course, they are still in this seasons competition but would be nice to confirm it and go into those games in August a bit more relaxed.

Chelsea are still without Billy Gilmour. While N’Golo Kante is still struggling with a hamstring injury and will unlikely play. Wolves will be delighted coming into this one at full strength.

Verdict – Chelsea. Pressure on Wolves to win the Europa League.

Arsenal vs Watford

Watch On – Sky Sports Football

A nothing game for Arsenal but a cup final for Watford. As we said earlier Watford are fighting it out with Aston Villa and to a lesser extent Bournemouth for Premier League survival.

They will have to get past an improving Arsenal side. They do come into this one off the back of a defeat to Aston Villa. However, they have recently beaten both Liverpool and Manchester City. Its all about next season for Arsenal as they look to improve their squad. The final day is something Arsenal do well. As they have won eight consecutive last games.

Watford look desperately to stay in the Premier League. It has been a tough time for them lately losing their last two games. Watford are also winless in their last seven away games in the league. Along with conceding three or more goals in their last four defeats. The signs don’t look good at all.

Both teams are missing their fair share of players. Arsenal are without Bernd Leno, Calum Chambers, Pablo Mari, Martinelli and exiled Matteo Guendouzi. While Shkodran Mustafi is very doubtful.

Watford are without Gerard Deulofeu, Isaac Success and Daryl Janmaat. While midfielder Etienne Capoue is questionable.

Verdict – Arsenal win and Watford to go down. Maybe don’t sack your manager with two games to go lads.

Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur

While not the most vital game of the weekend it isn’t a nothing game either. Palace are fine and the best they can do is go up a place into 13th. However, Spurs still have a chance of getting into a European position. They could leapfrog Wolves into their Europa League place depending on results.

Palace are finishing the league in horrific form and will just be glad its over. losing their last seven games and have only picked up three points since the restart. They have only scored two goals in those seven games with both coming in the one game.

On the flip side Tottenham come into this one on a five-game unbeaten run. Things are starting to click it under Jose Mourinho it seems. They have scored nine goals in this unbeaten run and have only conceded twice. Main man Harry Kane also looks to be getting back to full fitness as he scored a double in his sides last two games.

Palace will be glad to finish this season as they are down to their bare bones with defenders. Patrick van Aanholt, Gary Cahill, James Tomkins and Mamadou Sakho are all out with injuries. With striker Christian Benteke also missing due to suspension. Captain Luka Milivojevic is also doubtful to play.

Spurs are just without Tanguy Ndombele. While both Dele Alli and Troy Parrott are also doubtful.

Verdict – Tottenham to win and go into that Europa League spot.

Everton vs Bournemouth

Venue – Goodison Park

Kick Off – 4.00 pm

Odds – Home Win 6/5 Draw 13/5 Away Win 15/8

Watch On – Sky Sports Golf for some reason

Another one that isn’t completely a nothing game. Hosts Everton can’t break into the top ten all they can do is drop down a place into 12th. While visitors Bournemouth are more than likely relegated but could survive on goal difference, but they need to win.

Everton have been patchy all season and their current form shows that. They only recorded one win in their last five games. That came in their previous game against Sheffield United. Everton have been decent at home this season which will fall into their favour.

Its simply a must win game for Bournemouth. Something they have only managed to do once since their last win in February. They have even lost nine of their last 12 league games. Along with having the worst away record of the season. The Cherries have also lost on their last four visits to Goodison Park.

Everton will be without Mason Holgate, Yerry Mina and Fabian Delph. While disappointing star Moise Kean is struggling with an ankle injury.

Bournemouth are also missing a few key figures. Charlie Daniels and Chris Mepham are both out. While Nathan Ake, Simon Francis and Adam Smith are unlikely to play.

Verdict – Draw sadly not enough to save Bournemouth.

Southampton vs Sheffield United

Venue – St. Marys

Kick Off – 4.00 pm

Odds – Home Win 11/10 Draw 12/5 Away Win 23/10

Watch On – Sky Sports Mix

Now we get down to the games with nothing on the line.

Southampton sit in 12th place and all they can do is jump up one more spot. They are on a decent run going unbeaten in six games with three wins and three draws. However, the Saints have struggled at home in the league this season. They have only won five games at St. Marys and hold the second worse home record.

While Sheffield United’s European push has fizzled out it has still been a remarkable season. The break hasn’t been kind to them as it seemed to stop their momentum. They have only won three games since the return. A top ten finish is guaranteed for the Blades. A position they would have bitten your hand off for at the start of the season.

Southampton are without Yan Valery, Sofiane Boufal and Moussa Djenepo. With Jan Bednarek carrying a knock too. Sheffield United are almost full-strength Luke Freeman is the only doubtful player.

Verdict – Another draw.

Burnley vs Brighton and Hove Albion

Odds – Home Win 3/10 Draw 23/10 Away Win 2/1

Watch On – Sky Sports Arena

Won’t be one for the neutrals this.

Burnley will be looking to cap off another good season in winning ways. They currently sit 9th with a top ten finish in the bag. Burnley could jump up to 8th place depending on results. They have been going about their business brilliantly finding themselves on a seven-game unbeaten streak.

Brighton find themselves in 16th place and safe for another season. They could jump up to 15th again depending on results. Their form has been okay they have only won twice since the restart. But they are coming off two draws. They have gone unbeaten in their last six away games in the league. With five draws and a win during that run.

Burnley are missing big names like Ben Mee, Jack Cork, Ashley Barnes, Matty Lowton and likely Charlie Taylor. While the Seagulls are without Steven Alzate. While Alireza Jahanbakhsh is carrying a knock but could make an appearance.

Verdict – Burnley.
